Ganesh Chaturthi

Ganesh Chaturthi is a famous Hindu festival celebrated in honour of Lord Ganesha, the god of wisdom and prosperity. It usually falls in the month of August or September. The festival is celebrated with great joy, especially in Maharashtra.

People bring beautifully decorated idols of Lord Ganesha to their homes and public pandals. The festival starts with pran pratishtha, a ritual to welcome Lord Ganesha, followed by prayers and offerings like modaks, laddoos, and fruits. Devotees sing bhajans, perform aarti, and seek blessings for happiness and success.

The celebration lasts from one and a half to eleven days. On the last day, called Anant Chaturdashi, the idols are taken in a grand procession with music and dancing, and then immersed in water. This ritual is called visarjan.

Ganesh Chaturthi spreads a message of unity, devotion, and environmental care. Nowadays, many people use eco-friendly idols to protect nature.

This festival brings families and communities together and fills everyone’s hearts with devotion and joy.
