Mahatma Gandhi

            Mahatma Gandhi, also known as the "Father of the Nation," was a great leader and freedom fighter of India. His full name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He was born on 2nd October 1869 in Porbandar, Gujarat. Gandhi ji believed in truth, non-violence (Ahimsa), and simple living.

            He completed his law studies in England and later went to South Africa, where he fought against racial discrimination. After returning to India, he became a prominent leader in the struggle for India's independence from British rule. Movements like Non-Cooperation, Civil Disobedience, and Quit India were led by him to awaken the spirit of freedom among Indians.

            Gandhiji's unique method of "Satyagraha" was based on non-violence and peaceful protests. He inspired millions of people to join the freedom movement. His famous Dandi March against the salt tax became a symbol of resistance.

            Mahatma Gandhi’s life was a message of simplicity, truthfulness, and service to humanity. He was a man of strong moral values. On 30th January 1948, he was assassinated by Nathuram Godse. Though he is no longer with us, his teachings continue to inspire the world.

            Mahatma Gandhi is remembered as a global icon of peace and non-violence.
